Earl T HADLEY was born on the 14th of July 1921 , at West Avoca ,Pennsylvania.
Before the war he was a short-order cook in New York City, he left home at 16. He joined the US Army on the 13th of august 1940 at New York city.
He was volunteer for Rifle M1 expert training, light machine gun sharpshooting, heavy machine gun and 45 pistol expert training.
On september the 26th 1940, he was in Cristobal Harbor, Panama.
He soon became private first class and joinned the 550th infantry battalion. From the 2nd of september 1942 to the 8th of september he was sent again to the Panama canal zone. then, back to USA he left the 550th after airborne training and voluntered paratrooper.
He was then assigned to the 511 Parachute infantry regiment, 1st battalion, Head quarter company. On the 8th of may 1944, he was sent to New Guinea until the end of May 1945 where he unfortunatly contracted Malaria. He took part to the liberation of Los Banos.
Back to united stades, he was discharged on the 31st of july of the same year .
In civil life, he worked as brewery worker for Schmidt’s Beer in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He worked in the bottling house that bottled beer employed by Christian Schmidt’s and Sons Brewing Comany of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for 34 years. (1949-1983).
He like to go hunting for small game , He loved to cook, he was a really good cook.
Earl HADLEY was awarded of the good conduct medal, American theater service medal, American Defense service medal and a Bronze star medal for his action in Philippine Liberation , and the Asiatic Pacific Service medal .
Earl passed away from lung cancer on November 29, 1995 and is buried in St. Mary’s cemetery in Avoca, Pennsylvania

Il a été bénévole pour la formation d'experts fusil M1, mitrailleuse légère, la mitrailleuse lourde et la formation d'expert au pistolet Colt 45.

Du 2 septembre 1942 au 8 septembre, il est de nouveau envoyé dans la zone du canal de Panama puis, de retour aux États-Unis, il quitte le 550th après une formation aéroportée et se porte volontaire parachutiste .
Il a ensuite été affecté au 511 régiment d'infanterie aéroporté, dans le 1er bataillon, compagnie de commandement.
Le 8 mai 1944, il est envoyé en Nouvelle-Guinée jusqu'à fin mai 1945.
Rentré aux Etats Unis, il a été libéré le 31 juillet de la même année.
De retour à la vie civile, il a travaillé comme ouvrier de brasserie pour Schmidt’s Beer à Philadelphie, Pennsylvanie. Il a travaillé dans l'embouteillage de la bière employée par Christian Schmidt et Sons Brewing Company de Philadelphie, pendant 34 ans. (1949-1983).
Il aime aller à la chasse au petit gibier (faisans et lapins). Il aimait cuisiner, c'était un très bon cuisinier.
Earl HADLEY fut décoré de la médaille de bonne conduite, la médaille du service de théâtre américain, la Médaille de service de la défense américaine et médaille étoile de bronze "Bronze Star" pour son action dans la libération des Philippines, ainsi que la médaille de service du Pacifique.
Il sera un dés premiers a rejoindre l'association des anciens veterans du 550em et assistera aux premières réunions dans les années 70.
Il est décédé d'un cancer du poumon le 29 novembre 1995 et est enterré au cimetière St. Mary à Avoca, Pennsylvanie
