Il est mobilisé dans la 36e division en septembre 1943 alors qu'il venait de finir ses études, il sera bléssé en Italie le 28 mai 1944 lors de sérieux combats, puis débarqué en Provence le 15 Août près du Dramont, il sera tué à coté de son meilleur camarade Edward CAHOON par le tir d'un char tigre de 88 mm le 24 août 1944 dans la vallée du Rhône prés de Montélimar à l'âge de 18 ans. Il sera décoré à titre posthume de la Purple Heart avec 2 bléssures. Il repose au cimetière Américain de Draguignan. Var. (plot B. Rang 7. Tombe 22).
born in Benton Harbor, Michigan, in 1922, he was graduated from Benton harbor high school in June 1943, and inducted in the US army with the 36th infantry division in semptember of the same year.
Wounded in action in Italy on the 28th of may 1944, he landed in Southern France on august the 15th , and was killed close to his best friend Edward CAHOON by the shooting of an 88 mm tiger tank on August 24, 1944 in the Rhône valley near Montélimar at the age of 18, decorated postum of the Purple Heart with 2 oak leaf He rests in the American cemetery of Draguignan.
