Private AL DANIEL BAGGETT 38390691, US Army Paratroops. Brother of Sergeant SIDNEY LANIER BAGGETT KIA, Sergeant WILLIAM LEE BAGGETT, Private First Class OSCAR REW BAGGETT. Son of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar G. Baggett, 1833 Southern Ave., Shreveport. He was born April 17, 1924, and was attending Louisiana State University when called to active service.
He received basic training with the 517th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 13th Airborne Division at Camp Toccoa, Georgia, and served at Fort Benning and Camp MacKall, North Carolina, in training and airborne maneuvers. On May 15, 1943, he embarked for Italy and two Parachute jumps there at Anzio Beach in the Rome Arno Campaign (ETO). He jumped with a small group 72 hours ahead of the Invasion of Southern France to secure bridges and vital installations for the assault troops, and was killed in action at Col de Braus, France, September 12, 1944 at the age of 20.
He also fought in Italy on Anzio Beachhead with Infantry troops. Private Baggett had the Purple Heart Medal (PHM) awarded posthumously for his heroic part in Southern France, and was interred at Draguignan, France, in an American Cemetery there.

Il est né le 17 avril 1924 et fréquentait l'Université d'État de Louisiane lorsqu'il a été appelé au service actif. Il a reçu une formation de base avec le 517th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 13th Airborne Division à Camp Toccoa, en Géorgie, et a servi à Fort Benning et Camp MacKall, en Caroline du Nord, dans le cadre de l'entraînement et des manœuvres aéroportées. Le 15 mai 1943, il s'embarque pour l'Italie ou il va y connaitre son baptème du feu. Il saute avec un petit groupe quelques heures avant l'invasion du sud de la France pour sécuriser les ponts et les installations vitales des troupes d'assaut, et sera tué au combat au Col de Braus, France, le 12 septembre 1944 à l'âge de 20 ans.
Il a également combattu en Italie sur la tête de pont d'Anzio avec des troupes d'infanterie. Le soldat Baggett a reçu la médaille de la Purple Heart (PHM) à titre posthume pour son rôle héroïque dans le sud de la France, et a été enterré à Draguignan, en France, dans un cimetière américain.
