Peter Reed Joseph Edward REALF was born 11th November 1919. At the age of 15 years end 4 months, passed fit in the territorial army at Birmingham, and the for the Royal Corps of Signals.
Posted to royal corps of signals at the age of 16 years old, he is affected to the 48th Divisional Signals. At the age of 17, he is already L/Corporal. Peter is called up in August 1939 till May 1941. He received the Efficiency Medal (Territorial).
On January 1942 he is posted to the Airborne Division Signal, 1st Airborne Division.
He embarked for North Africa the 6th May 1943, and close after the landings in Taranto Italy in september 1943, the 1st Airborne Division is divided and Peter REALF is transfered in ne new 2nd Independent Parachute Brigade, the 22th of November 1943.
He participated to all the Italian campaign with the Brigade, and will jump in the operation dragoon, in southern France.
During the operation, he jumped with men of the 300th Anti Tank Airlanding, Brigade Hq and two French troopers, AUBREY and LOMBARD. The Signal section took positions in the Castle of Clastron between La Motte and Le Mitan.
After the operation , Peter REALF is badly injured at the return of the brigade in Italy, and will not participate in operation MANNA in Greece. After he recovered from injuries in 1945, he returned to para brigade and is back to the UK in june 1945 where he is transferred to the 6th Airborne Division until demobilisation in January 1946.
In 1958, he returned to southern France with his daughter and wife.

Peter Reed Joseph Edward REALF est né le 11 Novembre 1919. A l'âge de 15 ans et 4 mois il réussi son entrée dans l'armée territoriale de Birmingham puis dans le Royal Corps of Signal.
Posté au Royal Corps of Signal à l'âge de 16 ans, il est affété au 48th Divisional Signal. A 17 ans, il est déja caporal chef. Peter est appelé en août 1939 à mai 1941. Il reçoit la médaille d'efficacité territoriale.
En janvier 1942, il est affecté dans les troupes aéroportées, au sein du Signal Corps de la 1ere division aéroportée britannique.
Le 6 mai 1943, il embarque pour l'Afrique, et peu de temps après débarque à Taranto en Italie, en septembre 1943. Le 22 novembre de la même année la 1ere division aéroportée britannique est divisée, et Peter REALF est transféré dans la toute nouvelle 2nd Independent Parachute Brigade.
Il participe à toute la campagne d'Italie et sautera en provence lors de l'opération Dragoon.
Au cours de l'opération, il saute avec des hommes du 300th Anti Tank Airlanding, du commandement de la brigade ainsi que deux parachutistes français, AUBREY et LOMBARD. La signal section ( radios ) prend position dans le chateau de Clastron, entre La Motte et Le Mitan.
Suite à l'opération, Peter REALF est grièvement blessé en Italie et ne participera pas à l'opération MANNA en Grèce. Après son rétablissement en 1945, il retourne au sein de la 2nd brigade et est de retour aux Royaume Uni en juin 1945 où il est transféré à la 6émé division aéroportée jusqu'à sa démobilisation en janvier 1946.
Il reviendra en Provence en 1958 avec sa fille et sa femme et se rendra sur les lieux où il à combattu en 1944.
